Mr Lewis started his Martial Arts career at the age of 15, studying
Shotokan Karate. He then transferred to Tae Kwon Do for a couple
of years before joining the WCKA, under the instruction of Master Cliff
Brown. It was with Master Brown that Mr Lewis became a reputable
competitor winning Gold medals at Welsh and British level in Traditional
Karate Kumite, Points and Light Continuous Fighting. In 1993, Mr Lewis
started training in Ju Jitsu and achieved a 3rd Degree Black Belt after
14 years. During that time, he was also awarded a Blue Belt in
Brazilian Ju Jitsu from Carlos Valente (a Gracie cousin) and took part
in UFC Ground & Pound seminars with Ian 'the machine' Freeman, winner of
UFC 27.
Mr Lewis has provided many self defence courses for women involving
knife defences, throws, take-downs and many other scenarios.
In 2007, Mr Lewis rejoined the competition circuit with the WCKA
Superfit Squad and became a Welsh International fighter, travelling to
Germany for WKA World Championships. He fought extremely well to
win Bronze in the Traditional Karate Kumite. |
